What can you upload on YouTube?

What you can upload on YouTube is infinite. You can create videos about cooking, personal experiences, your holiday highlights, jokes, music and so on. Everything is possible, but keep in mind that you respect the copyrights. Uploading somebody else’s material can get you into trouble. So keep it original and only post your own work. If you really need to upload the somebody else’s work, ask for their written permission. This way you can prove to YouTube that you may use it.

On my own channel, I put many videos with different themes. The themes I used till now were:

1 Gaming
Popular on Youtube. There are videos explaining how games need to be played or reviews about them.

2 Vlogging
Also popular on YouTube. Here you can follow my everyday life and see the great things I do (like playing with my friends and doing stunts)

3 Pranks
Humor is something most people like. In these videos, people make jokes with others. Like painting, somebodies face while he is asleep.

4 Minecraft
There are specific videos about playing the game Minecraft. This vast multiplayer game has many features. People love to see you play this game or explaining how to create something specific.

5 Music
Create your own music and let others listen.

6 Parody
Parody often is used to use the popularity of others. If you say your video is a parody of somebody else’s work, YouTube often treats you mild. But keep in mind that it clearly must be a parody. Like making a joke of a popular video clip. If your work is just a simple rip of the original, you will be banned for that.

7 Pokemon Pack Openings
Pokemon has many followers. One of the thrills is opening a package of Pokemon cards. Therefore there are plenty of videos of people opening these packages and revealing the random cards.

8 Challenge’s
Like eating a cup of sugar at ones in front of a camera or jumping 40 times, without spilling a glass of water. All kind of challenges. And others will try to equal your work.

9 Unboxing
Like opening a package of Pokemon, people like to watch you open all kinds of boxes. Like opening a TV box, and showing what is included with the TV.

Those are my ideas, but be free to make your own original videos!

What is copyright on youtube?

When you are editing your video’s, it is good to add some music to the video. But there lays a problem: most of the music is copyright protected. This means that you need to pay the owner of the music money if you want to use it for your own purposes. This fee can be quite high.
If you ignore the copy right, you can get an even bigger fine and get your YouTube video being removed. Or even worse: you can get banned from YouTube!
To avoid this problem, you can use copyright free music. It also can be downloaded from YouTube. Here are some YouTube channels that deliver you copyright free music, that you can use for your own YouTube films:
1 GFM\goblins from Mars
2 NCS\nocopyrightsounds
3 audio library no copyright music

Sometimes you want to use some funny pictures in your YouTube video’s. But be ware that these pictures also can be copy right protected. You can search Google for “no copyright images”, and you will find websites like: https://pixabay.com/

So play it safe!

How to become a good YouTuber

Everybody knows YouTube. But how to become a good YouTuber?

Here are some tips:
1: Make a profile
a: Make a nice profile picture. Keep in mind that it needs to look good on all kinds of devices.
b: Make a banner. Here also keep in mind it will look good on different devices.
2: Make many video’s. A channel with only one video will not draw attention. You also need to regulary upload new video’s to your channel to keep people interested. This way you also can get subcribers. Having subscribers automaticly will generate more views.
3: Edit the video’s before uploading. If you upload video’s that have many mistakes, long periodes of silence, or boring during the first minute, people will not look at the video’s.
4: Optional: get advertising.  YouTube lets you make money creating video’s. If you earn money, you can buy better equipment and make even cooler movies.
5: Make interesting clickbaits. If somebody searches for your video, they will select your video’s sooner if there is an attractive preview image.
6. Ask fellow YouTubers to talk about your channel in their video’s or post links. You can do the same for them.

that are the 9 steps to becoming a good YouTuber

Why use a normal camcorder instead of an action cam?

I will tell you why. There are several action cams available. If you are a starter, you probably will buy yourself a rather inexpensive one. So did I. I bought myself a Sony camcorder. The picture was acceptable, but I was not able to see what I was filming. This is also the case in the more expensive GoPro action cams (like the GoPro Hero 5). There you only can see what you are filming if you are filming somebody else. If you go for a selfy, you need to guess how to hold the camera.
The next thing was that the action cams do not have that great audio. Perhaps in the most expensive ones the sound is OK, but still. What you want is a good video with great sound.
Then there is the fish eye. Due to the lens of the action cam, the picture gets distorded. If you want to remove the fish eye effect, you need to post-process the video on your computer.

Now why would you prefer an action cam over a regular camcorder?
1. The action cam is small and very portable.  Most of the camcorders are big and can’t be placed on a selfy stick.
2. Some of the action cams are waterproof (remark: some of the camcorders also are waterproof)
3. Most of the action cams are resistant to some degree of shock

Why would you prefer a camcorder over an action cam?
1. Due to the bigger lens and (usually) bigger chip, the video quality is a lot better.
2. Very slight of no fish eye distortion
3. Better audio and  (for some models) the possibility of attaching your external microphone.
4. For some models: being able to add additional lenses for effects.
5. Zooming. In action cams you can only do digital zoom (this basically is enlarging the existing footage). In most of the camcorders you have optical zoom. This does not damage the footage and keeps it crisp.
6. The vibrant colors. Some of the camcorders have spectacular livid colors. No post processing is needed.

So If you want to buy yourself a camcorder. What camcorder to use?
I bought myself a Sony FDR AX-33. This is a 4K camcorder (so huge film resolution). It has great video. Good mechanical image stabilization (the lens moves slowly when the camera is moving fast, to prevent shocks in the movie). It has a microphone output. You can connect it directly to the computer. It has the possibility to mount additional lenses (for example to film something that is very close to the camera or to get a more action cam like film. And most of all you actually can see what you are filming!
Most of all these camera’s can be bought second-hand. This made my camera just as affordable as an action cam.
If you want to go for even better video quality, you can go for a more expensive camera with a bigger chip.
